If you’re part of a small organisation, an individual advocate, or launching a new project focused on plant-based diets or animal advocacy, the Thrive Philanthropy Seed Grant Program is an opportunity for you to secure funding for your cause.
With grants of up to $5,000 USD, this program is designed to support work that challenges industrial animal agriculture, reduces demand for animal-based products, and promotes just, sustainable vegan food systems.
What is the Thrive Seed Grant?
The Seed Grant is a funding initiative by Thrive Philanthropy, created specifically for early-stage or small-scale efforts outside the United States. Unlike many traditional grants that focus on large, well-established nonprofits, this program is open to grassroots groups, solo advocates, and one-time projects, especially those without nonprofit status.
It is also ideal for participants of the Thrive Africa Accelerator and initiatives that are still in their early development stages but show strong potential to create social and environmental change through plant-based advocacy.
How much is the grant offering?
The Thrive Philanthropy Seed Grant offers financial support of up to USD 5,000 to help launch or expand eligible projects. The funds can be used for things like:
- Campaign materials
- Community outreach
- Educational programs
- Advocacy training
- Pilot initiatives promoting vegan nutrition
- Any other activities that align with the program’s mission
However, this grant does not support for-profit businesses, U.S.-based groups, or international branches of U.S.-based organisations.
Who can apply?
To be eligible for the grant, you must:
- Be located outside of the United States.
- Be nonprofit (not a for-profit company).
- Have a budget of less than USD 500,000.
- Be working to reduce animal consumption, challenge industrial animal agriculture, or promote vegan diets.
- Maintain a positive reputation within their community or region.
- Align with Thrive Philanthropy’s safe space policy and values.
Applicants can be grassroots movements, new campaigns, or small nonprofits. Individuals can also apply if they are working on a project with a meaningful social impact.
What kind of projects are supported?
Examples of eligible initiatives include:
- Educational campaigns about the health benefits of vegan diets.
- Projects targeting malnutrition through affordable, plant-based meals.
- Community garden programs that replace meat-heavy diets with plant alternatives.
- Grassroots campaigns are fighting against factory farming in local areas.
- Youth programs teaching sustainable eating habits.
- Public outreach to reduce the cultural or religious dependence on animal-based food.
Thrive Philanthropy encourages creativity and innovation – as long as your project advances the goal of creating fair, plant-based food systems, your idea will be considered.
